WA Reflections

Applications close Monday, 13 January 2025 at 5:00pm AWST.

WA Reflections is a capacity building initiative for early to mid-career Western Australian filmmaking teams. Selected teams receive up to $25,000 production funding per project to produce a short documentary film (maximum seven minutes duration), creatively utilising items from the State Library’s archive collection.

Feature Navigator

This scripted feature film development initiative is for writers, directors and/or producers at any career level with feature film concepts that can be made in WA. Up to six WA teams and/or individuals will be selected to participate in workshops with leading industry feature film creatives.

Proper Loved Up

This new romantic comedy short film initiative will support up to eight First Nations teams nationwide, helping them bring fresh, exciting Indigenous stories to the screen. Supported by Screen Australia’s First Nations Department in partnership with ABC, NITV, Screenwest, Screen Territory, Screen Queensland, Screen Tasmania, VicScreen, Screen NSW and Screen Canberra.

West Coast Visions 2025

West Coast Visions is a special initiative designed by Screenwest to uncover, inspire and develop talented and motivated WA filmmakers with distinctive visions, providing them with up to $1,000,000 production funding to produce their debut feature film in Western Australia.

First Nations VR Truth-Telling Documentary Initiative

The First Nations VR Documentary Initiative is a special initiative designed to uncover distinctive WA First Nations voices, support their career progression and enable practitioners to explore new story-telling mediums and markets. The initiative will take place over three stages, starting with a compulsory online workshop on 4 October 2024.

Producer Talent Accelerator

Screenwest and AFTRS are offering one WA practitioner a complimentary spot in the AFTRS Production Accounting Intensive, taking place in Perth in September 2024. The course will provide the knowledge and skills required for a career as a Production Accountant – a role much in demand in the screen industry.
