Expressions of Interest open for a spot in AFTRS Production Accounting Intensive
Screenwest and AFTRS are pleased to offer one WA practitioner a complimentary spot in the Perth AFTRS Production Accounting Incentive in September 2024. The course will provide the knowledge and skills required for a career as a Production Accountant – a role much in demand in the screen industry. Screenwest and AFTRS are pleased to offer one WA screen practitioner a complimentary spot in the Perth AFTRS Production Accounting Intensive in September 2024. The course will provide the knowledge and skills required for a career as a Production Accountant – a role much in demand in the screen industry.
The course will run over five days from 23-27 September 2024. The workshop will take place in Mount Lawley WA, with travel and accommodation assistance available for regional applicants via AFTRS.
The Production Accounting Intensive is best suited to people with an accounting or bookkeeping background. You’ll need to already understand double-entry bookkeeping and accounting to trial balance. Experienced Production Accountant and Managing Director of Entertainment Partners, Jane Corden will lead the course.
The course will provide:
- An understanding of the financial requirements and reconciliation at each stage of production.
- An understanding of compliance requirements.
- The skills required for payroll, accounts payable, petty cash, cost reporting and funding reporting as it relates to screen production.
- Hands on practical experiences with industry standard production accounting software.
Course Participants will be prioritised for future Placement opportunities on Screenwest funded productions.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Western Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
- Have a genuine and demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a Production Accountant.
- Practitioners interested in a career as a Producer or Production Manager will also be considered.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

- Expression of Interest (EOI) – 500 words maximum. Your EOI should address why you wish to attend the course, identifying the professional outcomes you wish to achieve and how it will assist with your career development.
- Current CV – 2 pages maximum.
Applications will be assessed based on the strength of the EOI, suitability to the workshop and identified outcomes to be achieved.
