XR:WA back for 2023 with an exciting lineup
Explore the immersive worlds of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and the digital screen industry at the annual free Conference and Expo, running 20 - 23 July at the Perth Cultural Centre.
XR:WA is back for 2023, with the free conference and expo set to deliver a bold and innovative lineup of digital screen technology events from 20 – 23 July.
Now in its fifth year, this major conference and public exhibition showcases the ideas, works, technology and constantly evolving environment of the VR, AR and digital screen industry across four days at multiple locations in the Perth Cultural Centre, including the WA Museum Boola Bardip, PICA and State Library of WA.
The 2023 program includes a plethora of local and international VR and AR works and immersive demonstrations spanning the realms of art, entertainment, education, training, scientific research and business.
XR:WA offers a three-day Trade Floor and Exhibition, inviting visitors to interact with a range of local, national and international companies, organisations, academic institutions and digital artists. The crowd-pleasing Games and Experience Emporium returns to the WA Museum Boola Bardip’s Hackett Hall and includes an impressive array of experiences, computer games and insightful industry talks.
Local highlights include VR experience GHOST CAM, developed by WA studio ARCH REBELS; and Tinyware Games’ WA adventure game Misc. A Tiny Tale, which was one of 13 projects funded through Screenwest’s Digital Games Production Fund earlier this year.
The event will also host an Academic Conference aimed at fostering critical discourse and international exchange amongst industry peers and those curious to find out more about the exciting future of VR and AR technologies. Speakers include Kristian Raston of Austrade and two Investment Managers at Screen Australia; Chad Toprak, Games Investment Manager and Sally Chesher, Documentary Investment Manager.
