About the attachment
Role: Assistant Editor Attachment
Dates: Monday, 28 November – Friday, 30 December 2022 (five weeks)
Location: Perth, WA
Production Company: Sea Dog TV International
The successful candidate will complete five consecutive weeks as an Assistant Editor Attachment under the expert guidance of the Offline Editor, where they will:
- Build on their understanding of post-production workflow systems and best practices.
- Gain experience importing and transcoding the picture rushes to an offline editing format, including managing the metadata.
- Gain experience importing the transcoded rushes in Avid Media Composer and syncing the picture and sound rushes using timecode to produce fully logged sub clips in preparation for editing.
- Assist with the management of all media, digitising material, moving media files into a shared storage environment and understanding labelling systems and logging.
- Understand the process of Rough Cuts, Fine Cuts and Picture Lock, Online and Final Delivery.
- Learn to make day-to-day decisions to ensure post-production runs smoothly.
- Provide technical and practical support to senior editor.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- Previous assistant editing experience in a professional capacity.
- Previous experience with Avid Media Composer editing software.
- Experience in media management and preparing rushes for editors.
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and take direction from editors and senior staff.
- Initiative, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to work remotely from home.
- Demonstrated commitment to pursue a career in post-production.
