Applications open for travel funding to attend AIDC 2024
Screenwest has announced a competitive travel round to provide a limited number of WA screen practitioners with funding support to attend AIDC 2024, taking place in Melbourne from 3 - 6 March. Applications close Monday, 8 January 2024 at 5:00pm AWST.
Screenwest has announced a competitive travel round to provide a limited number of WA screen practitioners in the factual sector with funding support to attend the 2024 Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC).
AIDC is the premier event for non-fiction screen content in the Southern Hemisphere. The conference is an innovative and industry-leading event, welcoming industry players from across the globe to drive collaboration, development, and production and to inspire innovation and ignite social change.
AIDC’s Conference will be held at ACMI in Melbourne from 3 – 6 March 2024, with the International Market running online from 7 – 8 March 2024.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Western Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
- Show a genuine commitment to working in the Factual Sector.
- Applicant must hold the underlying rights to a solid slate of at least three strong documentary projects in development with some level of market interest.
Applicants will be required to secure their own passes, with discounted passes available.
As this is a competitive funding round, a set amount of $2,000 to assist with flights, accommodation and registration will be provided and as such, a budget is not required as part of the application.
Screenwest will only fund one person per project / company to attend AIDC 2024.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
How to Apply
Applications can be made through Screenwest’s SmartyGrants portal.
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- The applicant’s track record, including relevant and recent credits
- Merit of the opportunity as presented in the application and outcomes of attendance
- Viability of the applicants submitted project/s, including market interest provided
- Potential economic and cultural benefits to the Western Australian screen sector more broadly
