Applications open for skills development opportunity with Odin’s Eye Entertainment at Cannes Film Festival
Screenwest will contribute up to $5,000 to assist with travel costs to the Cannes Film Festival 2024 for a WA screen practitioner to further their career through a skills development opportunity with Odin’s Eye Entertainment. Applications close Monday, 26 February 2024 at 9:00am AWST.
Screenwest has announced a competitive skills development opportunity for one WA screen practitioner to attend the Cannes Film Festival in France with Odin’s Eye Entertainment, an international sales agent, distributor and production company.
Taking place on the ground in Cannes from 12 – 22 May 2024, the opportunity provides a chance to gain hands-on experience at market events while liaising with filmmakers, distributors, sales agents and press on a global scale.
About Odin’s Eye Entertainment
Established in 2006 by Michael Favelle and based in Sydney, Odin’s Eye Entertainment (OEE) is a vertically integrated production, distribution and international sales agency that specializes in working with emerging and established filmmakers across a wide variety of genres. As a sales agency, OEE represents feature length motion pictures, documentaries and television content worldwide, hosting its own sales booth at every major festival including, but not limited to, Cannes, AFM, MIPCOM, Berlin and FILMART.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Western Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Display an ongoing commitment to being a part of the screen industry in Western Australia and continue to work and do business with Western Australia.
- Be able to commit to undertaking the opportunity for duration of the festival (12 – 22 May 2024).
Screenwest will provide the successful applicant with a contribution of up to $5,000 to assist with travel and living expenses.
Applicants will be responsible for finalising their own travel arrangements including any and all bookings, permissions and travel coverage that may be required.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

- A cover letter (one page maximum), which outlines the rationale as to why this opportunity strategically builds on and will progress the applicant’s career development in the screen industry, as well as outcomes of attendance.
- A current CV (one page maximum) including any in-progress or upcoming projects.

Odin’s Eye Entertainment will be assessing based on the applicant’s track record, including relevant and recent credits and a commitment to pursuing an ongoing, long-term career in the screen industry, merit of the opportunity as presented in the application and how the experience will assist in the applicant’s career development.
