Applications now open for MIFF 37ºSouth PostScript&Direct 2023
Screenwest is offering the opportunity for up to five Western Australian writers and/or directors to participate in the competitive PostScript&Direct networking program at MIFF 2023 in August. Applications will be accepted via the MIFF website, closing Thursday 1 June 2023.
Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) has opened applications for PostScript&Direct 2023, with Screenwest offering the opportunity for up to five Western Australian writers and/or directors to participate in this competitive networking program, set to take place at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Saturday, 5 August and Sunday, 6 August.
A special initiative at MIFF’s 37ºSouth Market, PostScript&Direct enables selected local directors, creatives and screenwriters to meet, and pitch to, a range of Australian/NZ producers and interest them in their work and skills. In a series of up to eight one-to-one 20-minute meetings and networking events, participants can hone their skills in pitching, garner interest in any projects they have to offer, highlight their availability for collaboration and broaden their producer contact base.
Your PostScript&Direct registration will include:
- Schedule of one-to-one meetings with producers on Saturday, 5 August or Sunday, 6 August
- Networking events on both days
- Access to State of Play panels on both days
- Invite to 37ºSouth Market Closing Drinks on Sunday evening
About PostScript&Direct 2023 travel funding
Successful selected applicants will have the cost of their PostScript&Direct participant slots paid directly to MIFF by Screenwest.
Successful participants will also receive a set amount of $1,000 from Screenwest to assist with flights and accommodation. As this is a set funding amount, a budget will not be required as part of the application process.
PostScript&Direct applications close Thursday, 1 June 2023.
37ºSouth Travel Funding – WA producers
Applications are also open for producers to attend MIFF’s 37ºSouth Market, including the market’s Bridging the Gap program. It comprises scheduled one-to-one meetings for registered producers with selected local & international film financiers/buyers and networking events.
WA producers who are successful in securing a spot are encouraged to reach out to Screenwest, as they may be eligible for Travel Funding to assist with the cost of flights, accommodation and registration.
The second round deadline for Bridging the Gap is 15 May 2023. Application details and further information can be found via the MIFF website here.
