15 WA soundies score ASSG nominations
15 Western Australian sound recordists, boom operators, sound editors, and sound mixers have been nominated for the 2023 Australian Screen Sound Guild (ASSG) Awards, for their work on documentary series Ningaloo Nyinggulu, New Leash on Life and Shipwreck Hunters Australia. Congratulations to all nominees!
The 2023 screen awards season is kicking off, with an impressive 15 Western Australian screen sound practitioners receiving nominations for the 2023 Australian Screen Sound Guild (ASSG) Awards.
The ASSG represents the profession of screen sound in film, television, multimedia and other related audio industries. Through their annual awards, the Guild recognises excellence and achievement within the screen sound crafts.
The nominees are made up of sound recordists, boom operators, sound editors, and sound mixers. The 15 WA practitioners are recognised across three WA projects, Screenwest-supported documentary series Ningaloo Nyinggulu, New Leash on Life and Shipwreck Hunters Australia.
The WA projects and practitioners nominated include:
Best Sound for a Documentary:
- Ningaloo Nyinggulu – Ric Curtin ASSG, Xoe Baird ASSG, Marcus Lorenz, Brett Stayt, Glenn Martin, Liz Parer-Cook
Best Sound for Lifestyle, Reality, or Factual Entertainment:
- New Leash On Life – Kim Lord ASSG, Gavin Repton, Benjamin Morris
- Shipwreck Hunters Australia – Josh Hogan, Ned Beckley, Jason North, Lucy Torvaldsen, Gavin Repton, Trevor Hope ASSG, Glenn Martin, Nat Neugebauer
