WA documentary series ‘Outback Farm’ premiering 22 August
Narrated by Jason Donovan, Prospero Productions' new documentary series for 7mate and Discovery continues the adventures of the water drilling Haigh family from Outback Truckers.
Screenwest is pleased to announce that new Western Australian documentary series Outback Farm, produced by Prospero Productions, is premiering on 7mate on Tuesday, 22 August at 8:30pm.
Narrated by Australian actor Jason Donovan, the six-part series continues the adventures of the Haigh family from the hit series Outback Truckers. In the Australian outback, Danyelle and Anthony have given up life on the road as water drillers, to offer their two young sons a more settled life. The family have sold up everything and moved to a remote, ramshackle 5000-acre farm, slap bang in the middle of Australia to grow hay in the desert.
The area’s harsh, desert landscape brings with it a host of challenges; scorching temperatures often surpass 40 degrees, sudden violent storms devastate crops and livestock, and bush fires are a constant threat. The family’s venture comes with significant financial risk, and they’ve given themselves a tight deadline of just two years to achieve success. It’s a high-stakes gamble that could either bring immense rewards or end up a daunting nightmare.
Both Danyelle and Anthony are no strangers to the spotlight; in addition to starring in Outback Truckers, Danyelle was also featured in the charitable adventure series Adventure All Stars, making the couple well-versed in navigating the world of factual television.
Outback Farm is directed by Mike Hoath, with Simon Hill as post director/editor. The series is produced by Julia Redwood and Rachael Kelly of WA production company Prospero Productions. Julia also serves as executive producer alongside Jules Fortune. Prospero has made quality, multi-award-winning documentaries and documentary series for over 30 years, including Outback Truckers, Outback Opal Hunters and Children’s Hospital.
“This was an epic series to make in more ways than one! An unforgiving, remote landscape, extreme weather events, a family under enormous pressure and all shot in the observational style where you never know what’s going to happen next! Hugely exciting and hugely rewarding.” said Julia Redwood, Outback Farm Producer/Executive Producer.
“The Prospero team are continuing their excellent track record of producing engaging returnable series. With its authentic, endlessly watchable cast and distinctly Australian setting, Outback Farm will no doubt entertain audiences both at home on 7mate and overseas via Discovery.” said Paul Williams, Screenwest Documentary Executive.
Outback Farm premieres on 7mate on Tuesday, 22 August at 8:30pm.
Production Credit: Outback Farm is a six-part series produced by Prospero Productions for Channel 7 and Discovery with principal production funding from Screenwest and Lotterywest.
