Screenwest to offer travel support for three Western Australian emerging practitioners
Screenwest will provide support for creatives to travel to Screen Maker’s Conference to participate in One-on-One Pitching and/or the Pitch-o-Rama competition.
The Australia-wide deadline for applications is Friday, 5 July 2019, with Western Australian applications being extended until Tuesday, 9 July 2019 at 5:00pm AWST.
Please note: All WA applications are to come through Screenwest and not the Screenmakers website. See below for details.
How to Apply
Applicants can apply for one or both of the following:
One-on-One Pitching
- Complete a Travel – Skills Development and Exposure Application using the Markets & Conferences application materials.
- Provide a one page pitch document which must include:
- Which marketplace representative you would like to pitch your project to
- Project Title
- Genre
- Format (TV, Feature, Web series, AR, VR or Interactive)
- Duration
- One Sentence Log line
- Up to 1/2 page synopsis or overview that describes the theme, story concept and characters
- Links to any support material if available ie: teaser
- Email all application materials to Screenwest at funding@Screenwest.com.au by Tuesday, 9 July 2019 at 5:00pm AWST. Applicants should forward all required application materials in a single email. Application materials are not to be emailed directly to individual staff members. For emails larger than 8MB, send via Screenwest’s Hightail Account: https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/screenwest.
Applications will be assessed on the criteria listed on the Screen Makers Conference Website.
Pitch-O-Rama
- Complete a Travel – Skills Development and Exposure Application using the Markets & Conferences application materials. Please read the guidelines for further details and selection criteria.
- Provide a one page pitch document which must include: title, format, genre, logline, synopsis, creatives, contact details, graphics images and online links (if available) and who will pitch (maximum 2 team members).
- Email all application materials to Screenwest at funding@Screenwest.com.au by Tuesday, 9 July 2019 at 5:00pm AWST. Applicants should forward all required application materials in a single email. About Screen Makers Conference
Now in its fifth year, Screen Makers Conference is the leading industry event for emerging and early-career screen content makers across Australia. Held 26-27 July in Adelaide, Screen Makers Conference brings together Australian writers, directors, producers and other screen creatives to share knowledge, connect with the industry, and pitch projects to the national marketplace.

Please note: The Two-Day Conference Ticket is not eligible for any pitching opportunities.
About One-On-One Pitching
This year the conference offers producers and content creators the opportunity to submit a project to pitch to marketplace representatives.
Attendees of the event will be able to draw from the speakers’ experience in different areas of the screen industry, including film, TV, documentary and online. They will also be able to chat to people inside the film market in a series of industry round tables.
This event provides an unmissable networking opportunity that will help build relationships between regional content creators and members of the screen industry and fast track careers.

About Pitch-O-Rama
This live-pitch competition searches for the next big web series idea and offers $10,000 in concept development funding from ABC iview and the @Media Resource Centre.
Nationally up to 10 projects/team will be shortlisted for the live-pitch competition. The shortlisted projects/team will be notified by Monday 15th July 2019.
