WA arts and business communities came together for a special breakfast briefing on Tuesday, 11 June 2019.
The State of The Arts in Business opened with a keynote address from Hon. David Templeman MLA, Minister for Culture and The Arts who spoke about the current state of WA’s cultural industries and opportunities.
The Minister’s address was followed by a panel discussion from:
- Andrew Hagger CEO of Minderoo
- Chamber of Arts and Culture Executive Director, Shelagh Magadza and
- International award-winning novelist, playwright, television writer, screenwriter, lyricist, theatre, screen-television director, stand-up comedian and actor Ben Elton.
The panel discussed the cultural and economic benefit to the WA creative sector and the broader community when business and arts come together.
Screenwest Board Chair John Driscoll said, “This event highlighted the enormous future potential for WA’s cultural and creative industries within our state’s changing landscape and identified ways we can create new economic and commercial development opportunities.”
Screenwest CEO Willie Rowe said, “The breakfast event connected organisations from the arts and cultural industries with business and industry leaders, providing an opportunity to learn, network and share ideas.
“We have a dynamic creative scene driven by amazing, passionate people and I know there is a lot we can achieve if we forge stronger links between the arts and business.”
