Program Overview
Spark is a Screenwest year-long professional and project development program initiative for early to mid-career Western Australian Indigenous key creatives. Applications close 5:00pm WST Monday, 25 June 2018.
Screenwest is calling out for Indigenous Western Australian writers, directors and producers who do not possess a theatrically or commercially released feature film credit, and who are looking to develop their career in screenwriting, directing and/or producing are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates will undertake a fantastic opportunity that will be tailored to the individual. This may include hands-on experience locally, nationally and/or internationally, script development and high-level industry mentoring.
There will be up to three successful applicants who will be offered Spark’s high-level and tailored support opportunities over the course of one year. The level and type of support will respond to the development needs of each individual filmmaker and project/s. The level of Screenwest’s funding commitment will be determined by the assessment process and the total demand on available funds.
In addition to professional development, Spark aims to progress feature film and TV projects held by the successful applicant(s) to being finance-ready
To reflect Western Australia’s rich, diverse community and support the representation of this diversity within the WA screen industry, Screenwest strongly encourages filmmakers and creatives with diverse cultural and social backgrounds to apply.
Spark will hold one round per financial year and applications will be assessed under a two-stage process. More details, including how to apply, are found in the Spark Year-long Emerging Indigenous Key Creatives Initiative page of the Screenwest website.
