Screenwest supports a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution
Screenwest is encouraging all Australians to cast a YES vote in the Voice Referendum to establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament in the Constitution.
Screenwest is privileged to operate on the lands of the Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar and we recognise the incredible impact Western Australian First Nations screen practitioners continue to have on our local and national screen sector.
We remain strongly committed to supporting our First Nations creatives and communities and we believe that later this year Australia has the opportunity to take a historic step in creating positive change for not only First Nations people, but for our Nation.
Historically, Australia’s first peoples have not been recognised in the Australian Constitution and collectively we have the opportunity to change this.
Screenwest is encouraging all Australians to cast a YES vote in the Voice Referendum to establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament in the Constitution. Embedding a Voice in the Constitution is a way of recognising and respecting the rich history and knowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people offer to share. Any step forward, is a step in the right direction.
Screenwest understands and respects that there will be differing views on A Voice to Parliament within our community. We remain committed to working with all community members regardless of individual beliefs.
