Screenwest launches the Digital Games Production Fund
Applications are now open for Screenwest's new digital games fund, which encompasses Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production phases of game development. Screenwest is also offering the opportunity for a limited number of WA studios and developers to attend the Game Developer Conference (GDC), taking place in San Francisco next March.
Digital Games Production Fund
Screenwest is pleased to announce that its new digital games fund, the Digital Games Production Fund, is now open for applications!
The fund provides grants to Western Australian companies and key creatives to develop and release high-quality, diverse and engaging digital games. The program is multi-staged, with games studios and developers able to receive funding for the pre-production, production and post-production phases of game development.
This fund is designed to help WA studios and developers bring their ideas and prototypes to a level that will gain interest from other investors and partners, have successful releases and achieve high player retention post launch.
The rollout of the Digital Games Production Fund follows the McGowan Government’s announcement of a $2M boost to WA’s digital games sector. Administered by Screenwest, the funding will assist the growth of the sector by supporting content development, capability development and strategic industry building opportunities.
Travel support for games studios and developers, along with support for Professional Development Placements, is already available to WA digital games practitioners. An additional fund – the Digital Games Business Accelerator Fund, will be launched early in the new year. This fund is designed to assist practitioners with business development and employment opportunities.
“We’re excited to launch our Digital Games Production Fund, which is a three-in-one program designed to streamline the funding process for game development and pathways to market, while also helping to open the door to additional funding sources. A huge thank you to all the games practitioners who shared their input and experiences as part of the consultation process; we can’t wait to see the projects and talent that come through this program.” said Rikki Lea Bestall, Screenwest CEO.
