Safety moment! Every practitioner working in the Western Australian screen industry has a role and responsibility to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others at the workplace. Every individual and company is required to comply with applicable WA Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws. It is important that all members of the industry understand their WHS obligations.
The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 provides a framework to protect the health, safety and welfare of workers in WA workplaces, and of other people who might be affected by the work.
The WorkSafe WA / Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website provides information on the up-to-date WHS laws and WHS guidance kits, as well as short WHS animations which can be used at health and safety meetings to raise awareness of responsibilities and duties under the WHS laws.
Full information about WA’s WHS laws is available on the WorkSafe WA/WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety Website – www.commerce.wa.gov.au/worksafe.
