Lotterywest supports WA screen industry with $7.7M grant
Lotterywest has continued its vital support of the WA screen industry with a funding commitment of $7.7 million for Screenwest for the 2021-2022 financial year.
Lotterywest has continued its ongoing support of the Western Australian screen industry with a funding commitment of $7.7 million for Screenwest for the 2021-2022 financial year.
Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman and Lotterywest Board Member Professor Kingsley Dixon presented Screenwest CEO Rikki Lea Bestall with a $7.7 million Lotterywest grant this week, to provide continued support to the Western Australian screen industry.
This vital investment from the McGowan Government, through Lotterywest, has enabled Screenwest to support the development and production of a number of WA feature films, TV series, documentaries, short films, web series, interactive projects and film festivals including:
- How To Please A Woman
- Facing Monsters
- Mystery Road: Origin
- Ningaloo with Tim Winton
- Shipwreck Hunters Australia
- Our Law Series
- CinefestOZ 2022
- Revelation Perth International Film Festival 2022
“Lotterywest is proud to continue its long running support for Western Australia’s screen industry with a grant that will deliver cultural and economic benefits to the WA community. For more than 25 years the State Government, through Lotterywest, has supported the WA film industry through Screenwest with more than $130 million in grants.” said Ralph Addis, Lotterywest CEO.
The State Government has been the principal partner of Screenwest for over 25 years, providing more than $130 million in support via Lotterywest grants. This is in addition to new screen investments announced in the 2021-22 State Budget, including $105 million towards a state-of-the-art screen production facility and $20 million to attract screen productions to Western Australia.
