‘Jaimen Hudson: From Sky to Sea’ set to premiere on ABC Wednesday, 24 November
Sea Dog TV International's documentary feature follows Esperance-based Jaimen Hudson’s quest to enter the ocean again for the first time in 12 years and swim with some of the world’s largest ocean marine life despite being a quadriplegic.
Screenwest is pleased to announce that Western Australian feature documentary, Jaimen Hudson: From Sky to Sea, is set to make its television premiere on ABC TV Plus on Wednesday, 24 November at 9.00pm.
Jaimen Hudson: From Sky to Sea follows Esperance photographer and videographer Jaimen, whose spectacular aerial whale and dolphin imagery reaches hundreds of millions of people online. Unbeknown to most, Jaimen uses a wheelchair. Embarking on the greatest challenge of his life, he begins his quest to become the world’s first underwater cinematographer with quadriplegia. Struggling against the constraints of his disability and the concerns of those around him, Jaimen sets out to prove to himself and the world that nothing will keep him from achieving his dreams.
“We absolutely loved being involved in the documentary. From start to finish every moment was an incredible experience I am very grateful to have had. The final product is something we are very proud of and can’t wait to share with a wider audience. A massive thank you to Screenwest and the ABC for making this a possibility. I hope people tune in and enjoy.” said Jaimen Hudson.
Jaimen serves as associate producer on the film, which is directed and shot by four-time Emmy® Award nominee Leighton De Barros and produced by Jodie De Barros, both of documentary production company, Sea Dog TV International. The company has an international reputation for producing high quality, blue chip documentaries that are compelling and innovative. So many people have asked Jaimen when they can see the film on TV and online, and we finally get to share the film with them on these platforms, it’s very exciting for all of us.” said Leighton De Barros, Director/DOP and Jodie De Barros, Producer.
Filmed in the Goldfields-Esperance and Gascoyne regions as well as on Rottnest Island, Jaimen Hudson: From Sky to Sea showcases several famous ocean hotspots along the coast of Western Australia, including Esperance’s Lucky Bay and Twilight Beach; and the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Marine Park.
