Iggy & Ace set to premiere at CinefestOz on 27 August
The series will see an advance screening and Q&A on Friday 27 August, followed by its release on SBS On Demand on Thursday 9 September
CinefestOz is rolling out the red carpet for the World Premiere of Iggy & Ace, a Screenwest and Lotterywest supported project. Head down to Busselton next Friday night to join actors Liam Graham and Megan Hollier, Producer Melissa Kelly, Production Designer Emma Fletcher, Cinematographer Mahmudul Raz, Makeup Designer Liz Gruszka and Costume Designer Texx Montana as they launch the series on the big screen. The premiere will serve as a grand opportunity for industry and audience to get a deeper look into the series, with a Q&A featuring key members of the series team.
Iggy & Ace are two young, gay best friends who live, work and play together, inseparable in every way. But when Ace starts to suffer debilitating panic attacks when hungover, he winds up at a gay chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous determined to get sober. Iggy is horrified, convinced that her friend has been indoctrinated into a religious cult, and views his rejection of their shared lifestyle as a rejection of her. Stung, Iggy does everything she can to disrupt his recovery and keep her best friend close, begging the question: Can Ace’s sobriety and his friendship with Iggy co-exist?
Producer Hannah Ngo said: “We are so delighted to have the festival premiere for Iggy & Ace at CinefestOz. Partnering with SBS, Screenwest and Screen Australia to produce this show in WA has been such a wonderful experience and the hard work everyone has put in through a challenging year has definitely been rewarded. We are very proud of the project and through this story, we have highlighted a serious issue with comedy and heart.
Screenwest CEO Rikki Lea Bestall said: “We’re thrilled to see such a fantastic Western Australian filmmaking team have the opportunity to showcase their series to a national audience. Screenwest was delighted to be able to join SBS and Screen Australia in bringing this project to life.”
