The Screenwest and Lotterywest supported feature film Avarice has commenced principal photography in Perth, Western Australia.
The action thriller to be directed by John V Soto (The Gateway, Needle) and produced by Tim Maddocks (Terminus) enters the final week of 4 week shoot in the Perth Metropolitan Area.
Starring Gillian Alexy (Outsiders, The Americans, NCIS New Orleans) and Luke Ford (Animal Kingdom, The Mummy III, Amazing Grace) the film is an action-packed ride! The story follows a woman (Alexy) as she attempts to rescue her husband (Ford) after he is abducted during a vicious home invasion.
“When John pitched me the script at 37 South in 2018 I was intrigued and read the first draft in one sitting and was hooked. Audiences will love this, and when I sent it to Patrick Ewald of Epic Pictures he agreed. Since then, it’s all been about finding the right people to join us on the ride, and I couldn’t be happier with the team we’ve pulled together. Exploring the depth of talent that WA has to offer has been wonderful!” said Avarice Producer Tim Maddocks
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to direct this original and exciting movie with such a talented cast and crew. I’d like to thank Screenwest and Lotterywest for their passionate support of our movie and the WA film industry as a whole,” stated Writer/Director, John V. Soto.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support a breadth of production in Western Australia. Avarice is a home grown WA film that will entertain audiences and provide employment opportunities for WA crew and creatives. We wish the team all the best with the shoot!” said Rikki Lea Bestall, CEO of Screenwest.
