Kalamunda born, raised and educated Producer Brooke Tia Silcox and Camel Expert and Wrangler, Chris O’Hora from the Calamunnda Camel Farm will present a special screening of the award-winning film JUDAS COLLAR at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre on Friday, 3 May 2019.
There will be two screenings: a 4:00pm matinee and a 7:00pm formal screening. The family friendly matinee provides a great opportunity for those who would prefer an earlier time slot.
One of the film’s lead camels will attend the screenings with prizes to be won on the night.
Producer Brooke Silcox said, “JUDAS COLLAR recently won Best Narrative Short Live Action Film at the prestigious Austin Film Festival in Texas, which now means the Western Australian team qualify to enter the Academy Awards in 2020. The screening is to help the team raise funds for the Oscars Campaign.”
JUDAS COLLAR received funding from Screenwest and Lotterywest as part of the highly competitive Elevate 70 Initiative, where two films from approximately 70 films submitted were chosen to receive production funding.
The film is written and directed by Alison James based on her experience in the Australian outback and was filmed in the Murchison Region in Mount Magnet, Sandstone and Cue over a six-day period.

“I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this local screening, and to meet Sonic – the lead Camel from our very own Calamunnda Camel Farm.
“Brooke has showcased a passion and commitment that embodies the spirit of Kalamunda, as a young person she is paving the way as a rising film producer.”
The film had its World Premiere at the Sydney Film Festival where Alison received a Special Mention for Best Direction. It has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally and was one of only four films nominated for the 2018 AACTA Award for Best Short Fiction Film.
These screenings are supported by the City of Kalamunda.
