WA Made Film Festival 2025 is kicking off this month, with the festival set to deliver a packed lineup of Western Australian-made content across 10 days.
This year’s eagerly anticipated program features 115 short films, feature films, documentaries, and smartphone films; 78 premieres, including 63 world premieres; nine ScreenCraft sessions including panels, webinars, masterclasses and an entertainment event; and over 100 Q&A filmmaker guests.
Several locally-produced indie features are set to premiere at the festival, including sold out opening night film Remotely Famous, First Nations documentary Genocide in the Wildflower State and music documentary Green: The Fight For Rock And Roll.
Local short form content is also set to be a hit with audiences; with nine short film showcase events highlighting over one hundred WA-made shorts including Joan and The Roadhouse Blues, supported through Screenwest’s Elevate initiative, as well as short documentary Connies, produced as part of Screenwest’s WA Reflections initiative.
The festival’s ScreenCraft sessions include ‘The Future is Bright’ Independent Filmmaker Panel, a Producing Masterclass with Kate Separovich (Proclivitas), a live recording of the Cinema Australia podcast with Zak Hilditch (We Bury the Dead), WIFT Australia panel ‘Working Mums’ and online screenwriting workshop ‘Creating Character Want’ with Emmy-nominated writer Lorien McKenna.
The festival runs from Friday, 21 February to Sunday, 2 March 2025 at Palace Raine Square, with special events also taking place at the Globe Perth, City of Perth Library Auditorium and Planet Royale Theatre.
