The Western Australian Government and Screenwest are pleased to announce the development of the WA Screen Industry Strategy, set to provide a 10-year vision for development of WA Screen sector.
The development of the Strategy will ensure Western Australia is best placed to grow and develop the film and screen sector over the coming decade.
“This work will help solidify the course of commitment to the screen industry into the future by providing a framework on how best to support and grow the our local industry. We commend the McGowan government for their commitment to the WA Screen Industry.” said Rikki Lea Bestall, Screenwest CEO.
ACIL Allen Consulting has been appointed to facilitate development of the Strategy, which will build on extensive industry consultation undertaken in recent years. Industry engagement will begin this week and will include an opportunity for targeted one-on-one engagement. There will also be the opportunity for feedback on the draft strategy.
The creative industries create local jobs and add to the vibrancy of our communities, while showcasing our great State to national and international audiences.
The development of the Screen Industry Strategy builds on the potential of the screen industry as part of the broader creative industries, identified as a key area under the State Government’s economic diversification strategy for the Western Australian economy.
The Strategy will be developed in collaboration between the State Government and Screenwest, to build a solid foundation for screen sector growth into the future.
