WA digital game ‘An Engineer and the Great Machine’ now available on Steam
Supported through Screenwest's Digital Games Production Fund, Gentlegear Games' new PC puzzle game sees you become entangled in the project known as ‘The Great Machine'.
Screenwest is pleased to announce that Western Australian digital game An Engineer and the Great Machine has launched around the world on PC, supported through the Digital Games Production Fund.
An Engineer and the Great Machine is a bureau-punk engineering puzzle game where you, a new engineer at SKP, have become entangled in the project known as ‘The Great Machine’. Stakes are high and instructions unclear. Design systems, decipher the red tape, and unravel the plot without falling prey to the bureaucracy.
The game was developed by Mark Thompson of Western Australian studio Gentlegear Games, with Mark directing, designing and programming. An Engineer and the Great Machine is written by Amy Doherty – who also serves as narrative designer – and animator/artist Cameron Thompson-Dadd. Chris Head serves as the game’s sound designer and composer.
“In 2018 I bought a notebook, filled it with ideas and told future me I was looking forward to meeting him at the finish line. After six years and three full rebuilds of the game, I cannot be prouder of what I and my collaborators have built.” said Mark Thompson, Gentlegear Games Founder and Developer.
“An Engineer and the Great Machine is a perfect example of the quality level of games coming out of WA. The game is sure to be a hit with casual and hardcore puzzle game fans alike. Congratulations to Mark and the team!” said Mark Smith, Screenwest Digital Games Manager.
The Digital Games Production Fund provides grants to Western Australian companies and key creatives to develop and release high-quality, diverse and engaging digital games. A new round of the fund is currently open, supporting the production phase of game development.
An Engineer and the Great Machine is available to purchase worldwide via Steam here.
