Hello again, I’m Willie Rowe and this is our final update for 2019 from Screenwest.
As many of you will be aware, earlier this week we launched our Western Australian Screen Industry Health Check Survey, which is being undertaken and will run as a survey over the next couple of months to the end of February.
The purpose of the survey is to undertake a point in time health check of the screen industry in Western Australia and that health check will help inform our strategic development and our review of programs and policies as we move forward.
It’s being conducted by Screenworks on behalf of Screenwest and I encourage everybody to participate.
There are two parts: you can participate in the survey either as an individual or as a company and for those of you who are leaders of companies you can participate in both if you choose to do so.
Keep an eye out for updates on the survey and I look forward to you participating in the survey because it’s really meaningful and it helps inform what we do.
Moving along to staffing! We’re delighted to welcome Barbara Connell here who’s our Drama Development Manager.
As her title would explain, Barbara’s very much looking forward to working with us on developing drama initiatives for the screen industry in Western Australia.
Barbara, many of you will know, has had a long and very distinguished career in the screen industry in Western Australia and she’s a valued member of our team. We’re looking forward to working with her in her new role.
Our 2018-19 annual report for Screenwest is now up and live on our website.
I would encourage you to get a hold of a copy of the report and to download it and to have a look at the achievements of the industry over the last 12 months.
It’s very much focused on the industry and the achievements that we have made, and I think it’s a testament to our industry.
And you’ll note from the annual report these wonderful achievements that have happened in what’s been a very, very busy year for the screen industry in Western Australia. So, I would encourage you to download the annual report and to have a look at it.
As we close out this year it’s with a great deal of thanks
that I give to the industry for your support and to our funders and to our political supporters who’ve been nothing but solid in their support for Screenwest and the screen industry throughout the year.
In particular of course, Lotterywest, without whom we wouldn’t be able to provide the support that we do for the screen industry.
To the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries again we thank you for your support, your ongoing support. Again, without that support from the government we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
And to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development through Royalties for Regions’ support for the Western Australian Regional Film Fund. Again, that fund has been instrumental in ensuring the high quality and the high level of production that we’ve had throughout the state throughout the year.
To the industry, thank you so much. We wouldn’t be here without you and we look forward to working closely with you in 2020.
We’re taking a short break over the Christmas holiday break.
We’re closing I think from the 20th of December until the 2nd of January and in closing, can I wish you and your family and your friends a wonderful festive season.
We look forward to meeting with you again in the new year for a fantastic 2020.
