About the series
Overture follows the journey of Stephen Seary, a successful stage designer, returning to his small Australian hometown to say goodbye to his dying mother. Chaos, drama and at times downright funny moments unfold as Stephen navigates family responsibilities, old friends and past lovers, all while trying to return to Europe for a major Opera design contract.
About the Attachment
Role: VFX Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 2 September – Friday, 11 October 2024 (six weeks)
Location: Perth, WA
Production Company: Ambience Entertainment
Under the expert guidance of VFX Supervisor, Clint Logan, the successful candidate will:
- Gain exposure to VFX on set capture processes and follow this pipeline through to post-production.
- Observe the creation of storyboards and animatics.
- Observe the design of 2D elements including standard 2D cleanups.
- Gain an understanding of the VFX team roles and how they differ.
- Gain experience with different forms of VFX media and artistry (2D / 3D) and how these pipelines and processes differ.
- Provide assistance with bookings & schedules as required.
- Assist with general VFX production office needs and admin support.
- Gain an understanding of VFX schedules and budgets are generated and met.
- Gain an understanding of how VFX mediums differ and how the decisions on shots are made.
- Gain an understanding of how shot listing works.
- Develop an understanding of the general mechanics of feature film production and how the VFX pipeline fits into it all.
- Build connections with industry suppliers and vendors.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- Basic understanding of Excel and Word.
- Good email skills.
- A respectful phone manner.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Good attention to detail.
- Clean driver’s license and car required.
Additional consideration will be given to applications that possess experience and/or relevant tertiary education in 2D/3D animation and VFX.
