Vale Geoff Duncan

Geoff Duncan was a passionate advocate for the Western Australian Screen Industry and Western Australian screen production.

The former WA State Director of the ABC championed the development of studio facilities at the Fielder Street studios and oversaw the broadcaster’s transition there. This incredible foresight to the development of valuable infrastructure has ultimately enabled television programs like The Heights to be produced in Western Australia.

He was a key supporter of children’s television projects including Parallax, Storm World and Wild Kat and found innovative ways for the ABC to support independent productions to take place and find broadcast opportunities.

“Geoff was a giant within the Western Australian screen industry and will be sincerely missed within sector. His passion for local productions was invaluable and he assisted many to ensure Western Australian content had a clear pathway to screen. I and the Screenwest team send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at the ABC,” said Willie Rowe, CEO of Screenwest

Geoff was an avid supporter of the ABC Matched Prime Time initiative with Screenwest and made valuable contributions to the wider arts sector in Western Australia as a member of the WAAPA, Perth International Arts Festival and Western Australian Museum Foundation boards.
