Uplifting WA documentary series, Children’s Hospital premieres tonight on Channel 9
Prospero's heartwarming series follows two remarkable hospitals and their dedicated teams of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals, who face the daily challenge of treating sick children.
Screenwest is pleased to announce heartwarming Western Australian documentary series Children’s Hospital, produced by Prospero Productions, is premiering on Channel 9 tonight at 7.30pm.
The eight-part observational documentary series looks at the amazing work carried out by the teams at two of Perth’s busiest hospitals, as they care for children from all corners of Western Australia. Many arrive through the doors of the Emergency Department for urgent, life-saving treatment, while others are flown thousands of kilometres for operations that will change their lives.
Throughout the series, specialist teams of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals must deal with every emergency imaginable – from a bead stuck up a nose, to a brain tumour in a little girl – each unpredictable day brings new a new set of dramas.
Incredibly, the series has resulted in UK healthcare professionals getting in touch to express interest in coming to work in Perth, following the series being broadcast on Discovery’s digital channel, REALLY in the UK under its international title, Aussie Kids A&E, earlier this year.
Children’s Hospital is produced by Chris Blackburn, with Julia Redwood and Jules Fortune of WA production company Prospero Productions executive producing. Prospero have made quality, multi-award-winning documentaries and documentary series for over 30 years, including Outback Truckers, Outback Opal Hunters and Only in Oz.
“Children’s Hospital is more about people than medicine. Folk who are going about their daily business and then suddenly find themselves in a hospital with a sick or injured child. The way the doctors and nurses come to their assistance, comforting and fixing them when they are at their most vulnerable.” said Chris Blackburn, Series Producer.
“Prospero has an excellent track record for delivering engaging factual content, with Children’s Hospital being no exception. The series not only highlights the bravery and resilience of the children, but celebrates the tireless work of WA’s dedicated healthcare workers.” said Paul Williams, Screenwest Documentary Executive.
Children’s Hospital premieres on Channel 9 tonight at 7.30pm.
Production Credit: Children’s Hospital is an eight-part series produced by Prospero Productions for Channel 9 and Discovery’s Really Channel with Principal production funding from Screenwest and Lotterywest.
