Upcoming Development and Production Funding Rounds in 2021

The remaining development and production rounds for the 2020-21 financial year have been confirmed!

Screenwest is very pleased to announce it is able to hold a third production funding round for scripted and documentary projects in April 2021.

The need for a third round speaks to the high number of projects that WA has in the pipeline and the ability for Screenwest to confirm this round should provide industry with certainty for the months ahead. Funds available will be limited for both scripted and documentary due to the high demand on the two previous funding rounds.

Screenwest will also deliver a second Documentary Development and Scripted Development Rounds, closing in March 2021. Dates are outlined below.

The guidelines for these rounds will not undergo any major changes, however you should always read the latest guidelines, uploaded to the website on the round opening date.

The new Screenwest Terms of Trade for 2021, available on the Screenwest website, now apply to anything approved for funding from Friday, 1 January 2021.

All  funding applications will now be required to be submitted through the SmartyGrants portal. A link to the correct form for each funding round will be included on the relevant funding program pages.

We ask all applicants to take note of the closing deadline, as all applications through the SmartyGrants portal close promptly at 5:00pm AWST. For more information on applying through SmartyGrants, read our helpful tips here.

• Applications open: Monday, 1 February 2021
• Applications close: Monday, 8 March 2021 at 5:00pm AWST

Scripted Development Fund

• Applications open: Monday, 1 February 2021
• Applications close: Monday, 8 March 2021 at 5:00pm AWST

Documentary Production, Scripted Production and Footloose Production Funding Rounds

• Applications open: Monday, 1 February 2021
• Applications close: Tuesday, 6 April 2021 at 5:00pm AWST
• Screenwest Decision expected by: Wednesday, 26 May 2021
