About the attachments
Attachment #1:
Role: Production Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 7 April 2025 – Friday, 9 May 2025 (five weeks)
Location: Perth, WA
Production Company: Periscope Pictures & Pink Pepper
Under the expert guidance of mentor, Shari Hutchison, the successful candidate will:
- Gain a meaningful understanding of the fundamentals of the production process of a long-form nationwide documentary series, including (but not limited to):
- Scheduling, call sheets, workflow, release forms etc.;
- General team management and communication procedures;
- Assisting senior crew members; and
- Understanding factual production processes and deliverables.
- Attend all levels of production meetings.
- Have the opportunity to be a junior contributing member of the production office team.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest BTL Crew Capacity Program – Applicant Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicants will possess:
- Strong communication skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- A proactive work ethic.
- An intermediate understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Strong desire to gain experience within the local and national film industry.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience within First Nations communities and/or First Nations film productions.
Attachment #2:
Role: Assistant Editor Attachment
Dates: Monday, 21 April 2025 – Friday, 23 May 2025 (five weeks)
Location: Perth, WA
Production Company: Periscope Pictures & Pink Pepper
Under the expert guidance of 1st Assistant Editor and Data Wrangler, Neda Rahbar, the successful candidate will:
- Gain hands on experience working on a fast paced post-production workflow for observational documentary.
- Develop a stronger understanding of the fundamentals of the post-production process.
- Gain experience using DaVinci Resolve by managing media and transcoding footage to be used on editorial.
- Gain experience liaising with the camera and sound department.
- Acquire organisation skills to track and manage high volume of footage.
- Gain experience using Avid Media Composer to prepare media for multiple editors.
- Learn how to customize Avid workflow and tools to maximize creative output.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest BTL Crew Capacity Program – Applicant Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicants will possess:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A good work ethic and reliable team member.
- Good attention to detail.
- A problem-solving attitude and desire to learn.
Special consideration will be given to applicants familiar with DaVinci resolve and a portfolio of previous experience in post-production.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for these roles, the attachments may be offered in another department.
