The State Government has today announced it will fund Good Faith, a crime/drama TV series, to film in Western Australia. The ten-episode series will star actor Kate Walsh in the lead role and will be co-produced by See Pictures’ Jamie Hilton.
The production attraction funding commitment of $4 million dollars is additional to the funding the State Government already commits through Lotterywest and the Western Australian Screen Fund through the Royalties for Regions program.
In great news for Western Australian crews, Good Faith is estimated the production will generate 500 jobs and training opportunities for the local sector. It is also anticipated that the project will provide an estimated direct expenditure of $33 million of spend in Western Australia and bring $180 million in economic benefit to associated industries.
Minister for Culture and the Arts, the Hon David Templeman MLA explained, “This production will bring new skills and opportunities to our screen sector, which has seen significant growth of 50 per cent over the last three years due to the State Government’s investment in the WA Screen Fund (formerly the Western Australian Regional Film Fund).
He added, “Western Australia is in an enviable position due to our COVID free status, with international productions looking to the State to utilise our magnificent locations and make the most of the State Government’s hard work and health measures that have kept us safe.”
CEO of Screenwest Willie Rowe said, “The State Government’s announcement of additional production attraction funds to bring a project of this calibre to Western Australia is outstanding! It’s an endorsement of the talent of local crews, Western Australia’s unseen locations and of the economic benefit the Western Australian Screen Industry can bring to the state.”
This could signal the beginning of another significant growth trajectory for the Western Australian screen industry, as it awaits the outcome of the State Government’s Market Led Proposal process for studio infrastructure in Western Australia.
Screenwest, with support from its partners Lotterywest, the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, continues to support local productions, with a solid slate of drama and documentary productions slated to stretch throughout 2021.
