Scrublands: Silver, filmed in Augusta, set to premiere on Stan on 17 April
Based on Chris Hammer’s best-selling novel Silver, and filmed entirely in Augusta in Western Australia's South West, Luke Arnold and Bella Heathcote return to star in the second gripping mystery in Hammer’s Scrublands trilogy.
Screenwest, together with Stan and the 9Network, today announced that the brand-new season of the Stan Original Series Scrublands: Silver will premiere April 17 on Stan.
Production of the series saw the town of Augusta, Western Australia transformed into the fictional town of Port Silver for seven weeks last year.
Scrublands: Silver is brought to life by WA director, Ben Young and WA producer Martha Coleman together with a talented WA crew including but not limited to; Michael McDermott (Director of Photography), Lisa Galea Gunning (Costume Designer), Hayley Atherton (Hair & Makeup Designer), Greg McKie (Key Grip), Dan Spriggs (Gaffer), Trevor Hope (Sound Recordist), Claire Burton (Location Manager), Stuart Morrice (First AD), John Fairhead (Safety Supervisor), Susie Campbell (Production Accountant), Mike Montague (Unit Manager) and Emma Vickery (Director’s Attachment).
“Scrublands: Silver was the first production of Third Act Stories, and for me as an expat Western Australian returning home. I was blown away by the talent here. Augusta was our perfect location for the fictional town of Port Silver – physically beautiful with forest, beach, river and migrating whales… and completely unspoiled by developers, it’s like a coastal town from my childhood. The locals couldn’t have been more welcoming to our cast and crew of 90 who became honorary Augustans for seven weeks,” said Martha Coleman, Producer.
Scrublands: Silver sees Luke Arnold (Black Sails, Last King of the Cross) and Bella Heathcote (Stan Original Series C*A*U*G*H*T, The Family Next Door, Pieces of Her) reprise their roles after a critically acclaimed, smash-hit first season.
In the brand-new season, it’s been a year since the life changing events of Scrublands and award-winning investigative journalist Martin Scarsden (Arnold) has returned to his coastal hometown, Port Silver, to set up a new life with partner Mandy Bond (Heathcote). When he arrives to find his childhood friend Jasper brutally murdered and Mandy the prime suspect, Martin struggles with doubts – about Mandy and about his own ability to recognise the truth. As he pushes forward to find the real murderer and absolve Mandy, Martin confronts secrets about Port Silver and his long-buried past.
The cast also stars Luke Carroll (The Artful Dodger), Debra Lawrance (Please Like Me), David Roberts (Please Like Me), Tasma Walton (The Twelve), Luke Pegler (Hacksaw Ridge), Caroline Brazier (Stan Original Series Year Of), Joel Jackson (Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door), Toby Truslove (La Brea), Sarah Roberts (Home and Away), Hamish Michael (The Twelve), Radek Jonak (Stan Original Film The Surfer) and Damian De Montemas (Hounds of Love).
