Screenwest Digital Games Evening + IGEA’s ‘Australia Plays 2023’
Special industry guests Alec Shea and Mauro Fiore are heading to Perth this month to meet WA games studios and developers at a presentation and networking event on 15 August, with IGEA inviting Western Australians to the launch of 'Australia Plays 2023' on 16 August.
Screenwest is inviting WA digital games studios and practitioners to two digital games events, with special industry guests Alec Shea and Mauro Fiore heading to Perth to meet WA games studios and practitioners on Tuesday, 15 August, and IGEA launching their ‘Australia Plays 2023’ research findings on Wednesday, 16 August 2023.
Screenwest Digital Games Evening
All WA digital games studios and practitioners are welcome to attend presentations from special industry guests, composer/sound designer/voice actor Alec Shea and game designer Mauro Fiore, followed by a Q&A session and networking. Taking place at video game museum The Nostalgia Box, hear about composition and sound for the digital games industry, as well as technological, cultural and market changes within the sector.
Refreshments will be provided. The Nostalgia Box’s cash bar will be open, and their games will be available to play! Numbers are limited so make sure you register below – a livestream option is available to practitioners who live regionally or are unable to attend in person.

Alec Shea is an audio specialist for visual novels, JRPGs and animation. He’s provided music, sound design, voice acting and more for projects including Corpse Factory, Akedo: Ultimate Arcade Warriors, Pitch Black Serenade, Head AS Code, Kanji Combat, How To Date A Magical Girl, Yandere Simulator and many others.
About Mauro Fiore
Mauro V Fiore is a video game designer with 20 years of experience across console, mobile, and social games. He has worked for Rockstar Games, Zynga and Electronic Arts. Mauro was in the inaugural class of Carnegie Mellon University’s graduate program, The Entertainment Technology Center.
‘Australia Plays 2023’ Perth Launch Event
Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) is inviting Western Australians to the Perth launch event for ‘Australia Plays 2023’, the latest in the Digital Australia research series spanning 18 years, exploring the demographics and behaviours of video game players in Australia and their attitudes towards games.
Dr Jeffrey Brand from Bond University, author of Australia Plays, will present the latest findings and be available to answer questions.
