Screenwest Board renewal completes with two new Board appointments
Screenwest has announced the appointment of Andrea Hoskins and John Atkins AO to its Board completing a period of transition as the organisation positions itself to support the WA screen industry in an increasingly successful, yet highly competitive environment.
Two years ago, Screenwest moved from being a government agency to a not for profit organisation focused on the support and promotion of the screen sector within Western Australia.
“As we look forward we can see a rapidly changing sector adapting to new technology and opportunities,” said John Driscoll, Screenwest Chairman.
“In 2018-19 productions shot in WA injected over forty million dollars into the WA economy. Our objective in searching for new Board Members was to ensure that we have a board with strong strategic and business skills, with a deep understanding of the importance of this industry from both a cultural and economic perspective,” he said.
Andrea Hoskins is an experienced and results-driven strategic and commercial leader with a track record in financial services, healthcare, retail, agriculture and resources sectors. Andrea has helped create value for businesses for more than fifteen years. Andrea was most recently Executive General Manager of Health and Corporate Services at HBF and lead the strategy function at HBF for over seven years.
Ms Hoskins brings keen business sense to the board of Screenwest having previously led the merger and acquisitions function at HBF for several years and has expertise in operational and general management.
John Atkins AO boasts an extensive career in law and commerce spanning forty years. John worked in a variety of positions at top law firm Herbert Smith Freehills in Australia, which he eventually lead as Chief Operating Officer to the CEO. During John’s tenure he began his Non-Executive Director Career holding board positions for private and government bodies in the oil and gas, mining, finance, property, retail, infrastructure, construction, not-for-profit and gaming industries.
In 2015 John was appointed as Western Australia’s General Agent in London for the Western Australian Government which lead him to pursue trade investment opportunities for Western Australia during a time of great change. John now joins the Screenwest Board to resume his career as Non-Executive director.
