Screenwest announces support for PRIDE Queer Film Festival
Screenwest is delighted to support diverse screen culture and celebration of LGBTQIA+ perspectives, filmmakers and stories through PRIDE Queer Film Festival.
After 3 successful years, the Perth International QUEER Film Festival is back and has been rebranded the PRIDE Queer Film Festival.
Running from March 4 – 11 at the Backlot Perth, the festival aims to bring a range of diverse and interesting LGBTQIA+ films and documentaries from around Australia and the world to Perth. PRIDE Queer Film Festival is the only queer film festival on the west coast of Australia.
The program will include an exclusive opening night event, short film sets and and the chance to see some of the best new queer feature films of 2020.
Artistic Director Mark Reid said, “I am really excited about the quality of the films this year and especially thrilled with the Australian queer films that have been submitted to be part of the festival. This year promises some great films from around the world and some really interesting Australian films and documentaries. Queer films are showing such strong narratives about the state of the world in terms of the LGBTQIA+ experience in 2020 and beyond.”
The full program will be announced late January 2020.
Screenwest is proud to support the PRIDE Queer Film Festival through our Audience Community Engagement Fund to continue to celebrate diverse screen culture and stories with Western Australians.
PRIDE Queer Film Festival is calling for submissions for short films and features via Film Freeway. Submissions close Friday, 20 December 2019 with a late deadline of Friday, 17 January 2020.
