Charge up that controller and get your VR headset ready – Perth Games Festival is returning to the Perth Town Hall on Saturday, 19 November 2022.
Now in its ninth year, Perth Games Festival is a celebration of the games and game-makers of Western Australia. This free, family-friendly event encourages the wider public to get involved with the game making community, expands the reach of local titles by showcasing them to a wide audience, and bolsters the sense of community amongst WA game developers and related industries.
Supported by Screenwest and Lotterywest, the festival enables Western Australians interested in making games to meet local developers, listen in on panels, and find out how to create their very own gaming experiences.
WA digital games to be showcased at Perth Games Festival include:
- Misc. A Tiny Tale by Tinyware Games
- Marcus and the Shadow by Mantra Games
- GHOST CAM by ARCH REBELS (supported by Screenwest’s Interactive Pilot Fund)
- Ricochet Rodeo by Echidna Studios
- God of Riffs by Boss Music Games
- 2.D.A.A.S. by fist face studios
- Tether by Level 126 Games
Running simultaneously with the expo in Perth Town Hall are a series of panel discussions taking place next door at the City of Perth Library. Covering topics including mental health in the games industry, making a game in 45 minutes and getting into game development, the discussions feature special guests from local studios and the education sector.
Perth Games Festival is presented by Let’s Make Games, a non-profit association working to support the local game development community in Western Australia, by encouraging interaction and championing local talent. Let’s Make Games runs social events that provide opportunities for local game developers to connect with each other (and related industries) and to showcase their work.
Screenwest is currently developing the programs for our new Games funding, with the Western Australian Games and Interactive industry encouraged to take part in our WA Games Industry Survey. Open until next Friday, 11 November, this survey will help us shape the programs to best provide support for the industry where it’s needed most.
