OUTBACK OPAL HUNTERS follows the world’s toughest miners as they face triumph and disaster chasing opals – one of the world’s most coveted gems.
The hugely successful first season premiered in February 2018, peaking at 100, 000 viewers an episode across the series.
Series Producer David Holroyd said the team at Prospero Productions was very excited for the series return.
“We were so grateful to be welcomed back into the amazing world of the opal miners like old friends,” said David.
“With Prospero based in Perth, we were delighted this season to follow a brand-new team of opal hunters from Western Australia: the Piromanski family, a.k.a. The Fire Crew. We joined them on their hunt through WA’s stunning landscapes for Fire Opal.”
In series 2 you can follow the Fire Crew as they hunt for the rare fire opal their off the grid camp in Laverton, deep in the Western Australia Outback. Firefighter Adam Piromanski, his partner HR consultant Cassidy Ricketts and Adam’s prospecting parents Peter and Vikki Piromanski have invested all their savings – will it pay off?
The Fire Crew join Season 1 favourites The Rookies, Col’s Crew, The Cooke Brothers, and The Opal Queen.
With five teams operating across four states, OUTBACK OPAL HUNTERS follows their roller-coaster ride of hope and heartbreak as they measure themselves each day against the vastness of Australia’s harsh landscapes.
OUTBACK OPAL HUNTERS Season 2 premieres Thursday, 31 January 2019 at 5:30pm AWST on Discovery Channel.
