About the attachment
Role: Location Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 17 April 2023 – Friday, 14 July 2023
Location: Derby, WA
The successful candidate will complete 12 consecutive weeks on an upcoming scripted TV series as a paid Location Assistant Attachment under the expert guidance of the Location Manager, Brett Dowson where they will:
- Gain practical scouting skills which include creative vision analysis, location presentation and distribution of location data management for a remote-based television drama series.
- Attend scouts and location presentation meetings.
- Sit in, contribute and gain knowledge of First Nation consultation processes.
- Gain an understanding of the processes for securing, contracting and the facilitation of locations.
- Work within an established workflow and assist the location department with setup.
- Gain the skills and insights into the roles and responsibilities of the location department and its team members.
Due to the regional location the production will provide accommodation, per diems and travel costs to the Attachment if located outside the Derby area.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- Personability and Communication: Fundamentally, the job requires engaging with people and communities. You are expected to be able to engage with a wide variety of people from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, industries, cultures, institutions, businesses etc.
- Adaptability and Versatility: Problem-solving skills and grace under pressure. Having initiative in regard to how to prioritise tasks, and return to them, if immediate action is required on something else. Balancing the needs of the production with the needs and expectations of the public.
- Creativity and Composition: An eye for design and desire to serve the vision of the story. Some skill or passion for photography, and an interest in learning how to capture a location for ‘successful’ presentation.
- Computer Skills: A willingness to adopt and learn new software/programs (provided) for example:
- Adobe Lightroom (for photo presentation, distribution and cataloguing)
- SpaceDraft (for mapping and creative breakdown discussions)
- Monday.com (for task management, breakdowns and budgeting)
