About the Attachment
Role: Location Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 5 August – Friday, 13 September 2024 (six weeks)
Location: Perth, WA
Production Company: Ambience Entertainment
Under the expert guidance of Location Manager Gabrielle Sinclair, and on set Location Manager Melissa Bush, the successful candidate will:
- Gain an understanding of how the on set locations role feeds into the location coordinator role and vice versa, and how the location manager role fits into this team dynamic.
- Gain a more in-depth understanding of how the on set locations role feeds into unit management.
- Develop an understanding of the location scouting process in line with a creative brief.
- Gain exposure to location deals, budgets, negotiations and contracts for an Australian feature film.
- Attend location surveys and location scouts to observe the process of finding locations based on the script, the director’s vision and other department heads’ input.
- Assist with location-related research as directed.
- Provide on set locations assistance as required.
- Assist in managing cast and crew movements (with direction) around location during filming, including assisting to minimise damage and helping preserve the integrity of the location.
Where travel outside the metro area is required, the production will provide the relevant accommodation, per diems and travel costs to the Attachment as per the award.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- A strong understanding of Excel, Word and emails.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- A clean driver’s license and access to their own car.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with prior experience in the location department in the events industry (music or corporate, etc.), film, TV, TVC, short films etc.
