FUTURE DREAMING premieres on NITV on Monday, 27 January 2020
The FUTURE DREAMING documentary premieres on Monday, 27 January 2020 at 9:20am and 3:55pm AWST on NITV Jarjums.
The documentary explores the making of the immersive virtual reality film FUTURE DREAMING, where viewers are invited to step into a time warping dream bubble as four young Aboriginal Australians guide them through their futures. Their stories evolve from the present day to 20 years into the future!
The FUTURE DREAMING documentary and VR film feature young Aboriginal people from Roebourne, Western Australia, including Alison Lockyer, Maverick Eaton, a Banjima man and Maxie Coppin, an emerging leader of Yundjibarndi descent. Key creatives on the project include Executive Producer and Writer/Director Sutu, Producer Robyn Marais, Co-producer Alison Lucker.
“FUTURE DREAMING has helped me to realise the importance of long-term collaborations. I’ve had the privilege to see these young people evolve from 12-year-olds to young adults. It’s exciting to facilitate their creative journey and to witness their empowerment and growth,” explained Executive Producer and Writer/Director, Sutu.
“Screenwest was pleased to support the production of this brilliant, immersive film which showcases the talent of young Aboriginal Western Australians and exquisite stories from regional WA,” explained Matthew Horrocks, Screenwest Head of Screen Investment and Strategic Projects.
The programming of FUTURE DREAMING coincides with ‘Always was, always will be’ National Campaign. SBS will also be launching the FUTURE DREAMING VR film on their VR App from Monday, 27 January 2020.
To coincide with the documentary airing, the Immersive Animation Festival Perth hosted at Palace Cinemas Raine Square will be screening the FUTURE DREAMING VR Film until Sunday, 2 February 2020. For more information or to book tickets visit the Palace Cinemas website.
