Felicity Groom launches new audio-visual experience “Galactagogue”
After a “pregnant pause” raising her young family, post-pop musician Felicity Groom returns with new music and a new visionary project.
Teaming up with some of Australia’s best digital artists, Groom has created a multimedia experience to showcase tracks from her forthcoming album, Magnetic Resonance Centre.
The album can be heard in full whilst experiencing a brand new live show, Galactagogue – a sumptuous musical and cinematic experience filled with Groom’s most daring explorations of pop to date. Luminary artists such as Poppy van Oorde-Grainger, COMBS, Dominic Pearce and Curtis Taylor have created an accompanying visual feast to bring each song to life.
Under the majestic vaults and stained glass of St John’s church in the heart of Fremantle, Galactagogue will be premiered on Saturday, 13 July 2019 as part of Fremantle Festival’s “10 Nights In Port”. The project has been assisted by the Australia Council who recognised the innovative hybrid of resonant futuristic pop and digital art.
Groom said, “This album sounds cinematic and explores a breadth of personal ponderings that I’m excited to see fleshed out visually. Poppy, the Artistic Director and Producer of the visuals, has been ensuring that all the contributing artists have a united vision and I just know that this show is going to be unbelievably special because of all these amazing collaborators”.
“The idea came from seeing visuals at large-scale concerts and wanting to bring that same sense of spectacle to more intimate spaces,” said Poppy.
