Feature Film Kid Snow Greenlit for Production in Kalgoorlie
Drama feature Kid Snow is set to commence production in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 2021 with the support of Screenwest.
With major Production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screenwest, Lotterywest and the Western Australian Screen Fund through the State Government of Western Australia’s Royalties for Regions Program, drama feature Kid Snow is set to commence production in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 2021.
Set in 1970’s Western Australia, a washed-up Irish boxer, Kid Snow, is offered a rematch against a man he fought 10 years prior, on a night that changed his life forever.
The film will be produced by Lizzette Atkins, Bruno Charlesworth and Western Australia’s Megan Wynn. With exciting cast announcements to come, Kalgoorlie is gearing up for a big year of screen production thanks to the support of Screenwest, Lotterywest and the State Government of Western Australia.
The Honourable David Templeman MLA, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture and Heritage explained a key motivator for the State Government’s support of the WA Screen Industry was to create jobs and other opportunities for the regions.
“The McGowan Government’s support for regional film production through the Western Australian Screen Fund has resulted in a significant boost to our regions, as well as the film sector,” he said.
“This is fantastic news for the Goldfields region of Western Australia, which will reap the rewards that come with having a film crew located locally, as well as showcasing the region to viewers far and wide.”
CEO of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission, Kris Starcevich said, “Producers have travelled to Kalgoorlie-Boulder several times and have been blown away with the first-hand accounts of the travelling boxing shows coming through town.”
“The film will provide economic and creative opportunities for WA cast and crew, local businesses and industry professionals. Not to mention, showcasing regional locations on the international stage.”
CEO of Screenwest, Rikki-Lea Bestall explained, “We’re excited that Kalgoorlie will be seeing some amazing production activity in 2021, with the production of Kid Snow presenting opportunities to showcase the region, promote local talent and film friendly communities.”
Kid Snow is due to enter production in the second half of 2021.

Kid Snow will be distributed by Madman and French-based sales agent Elle Driver, is managing international sales.
