Envelope Audio selected to produce Audible Original podcast series, ‘The Missed’
Envelope Audio is the successful recipient of the SoundWAves – Audio Production and Post-Production Initiative, supported by Audible and Screenwest.
Screenwest and Audible are pleased to announce Envelope Audio is the successful recipient of the SoundWAves – Audio Production and Post-Production Initiative, which will see the Fremantle-based audio production studio produce crime noir thriller podcast series The Missed as part of Audible’s Original program.
The Missed, written by Pakistani-Australian writer, Sami Shah, follows a refugee family from Pakistan who find safety in a small Wheatbelt town in WA, until their daughter is taken by an unknown person. This brings the weight of national media and politics down on the town, and the locals are pushed to their breaking point.
Envelope Audio founders Ned Beckley and Josh Hogan have a combined media industry experience spanning over 25 years, and their aim is to bring the highest quality creative and technical prowess in Audio Post Production, Music Composition and Sound Design across all media formats.
“Scripted podcasting is a really exciting space for us, where we get to use the full spectrum of our sound and music storytelling chops in one place. We also believe it’s a really important part of the future of developing stories for screen, as we’re proving audiences in a podcast format that can then be adapted for screen. We’re really thrilled at this opportunity provided by Audible and Screenwest.” said Ned Beckley and Josh Hogan.
Audible – a leading provider and producer of original spoken word entertainment – partnered with Screenwest earlier this year to create the SoundWAves Initiative which consisted of two unique funding opportunities for Western Australian creatives.

More and more screen creators are looking to audio as an alternative format to tell stories and capture new audiences.
