A professional Edit Assistant attachment opportunity is available through the Screenwest Crew Attachment Program on upcoming factual series, Outback Car Hunters. Applications Tuesday 6 April at 5:00pm AWST.
About the Attachment
The successful candidate will complete a 8 week attachment under the expert guidance of Senior Avid Offline Editor Mitch Leicester and Edit Assistant Oliver Dear where they will:
- work with, observe and contribute to the efficient operation of a 4 x Avid offline editor post-production team.
- Support 4 x experienced Avid offline editors onsite, along with the Executive Producer and Series Producer.
- Develop and refine Avid edit system skills and work shortcuts
- Gain insight as to how a commercial broadcast television program is filmed and edited, and particularly how the footage is managed and processed.
- Develop an increased understanding of the methodology and decision-making processes within post-production.
- Hone their ability to work under pressure.
- Gain insight as to how a broadcast television program is scheduled, learning about deadlines and edit turn-around times.
- Gain knowledge of the viewing/ screening process within a production, and learn the importance of a production company’s relationship with the commissioning network.
- Cultivate relationships with producers and editors.
- Throughout the attachment there may be the opportunity for supervised contact with the post-production team at the head office in Sydney.

If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will:
- possess a strong desire to pursue a career in the media, especially within post production.
- Be highly-organised and able to manage time efficiently.
- Be able to follow instruction.
- Have the ability multi-task.
- Have Excellent attention to detail.
- Be Keen, enthusiastic, self-motivating.
- Be technically competent with good computer knowledge – especially with macs and ideally with Avid.
Attachment Conditions
It is expected the successful Attachment will:
- Comply with the Producer’s workplace rules and requirements for safety and behaviour.
- Comply with all lawful and reasonable directions given to the Attachment by officers or employees of the Producer during the Term of the Attachment.
- Keep confidential any and all confidential information of the Producer that comes into the Attachment’s possession.
