Emergence Creative Festival have announced an exciting new initiative Generation Content which will be part of the upcoming Festival held 21 -24 March in Margaret River. Generation Content submissions are now open and seek ideas for drama series, features, shorts, animation, interactive and gaming.
This initiative is designed to upskill and mentor emerging talent in WA and create quality and meaningful content.
Emerging creatives and writers are to provide a one-pager which outlines their concept for drama series, features, shorts, animation, interactive and gaming by Sunday, 11 March.
Shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend a series of interactive workshops with a range of established screen mentors at Emergence to develop and pitch their ideas with the aim to generate more quality Western Australian content.
Mentors include Jungle Entertainment’s COO Chloe Rickard, Foxtel’s Head of Drama Development Carly Heaton, Screenwest’s Scripted Executive Matthew Horrocks, Turner International’s Glenn Bartlett and Glenn Urqhuart (ex-Foxtel). A number of industry professionals such as Chris Veerhuis, John Fairhead, Ned McNeilage, James Bogel, Sue Taylor and Amanda Morrison will also be mentoring.
Seph McKenna, CEO Screenwest added, “Generation Content is a unique opportunity that will provide emerging creatives with hands-on experience developing a WA story with the face-to-face guidance of industry professionals. I’m really looking forward to see what ideas are brought to life.”
“Emergence brings some incredible minds from around Australia and the globe to WA so this is a fantastic opportunity for local Western Australian talent to develop their craft, pitch their ideas, broaden their network and potentially further their careers,” said Erin.
“We really urge anyone that’s been sitting on an idea for a series, feature or anything of the like to take this opportunity to get it in-front of key stakeholders and mentors.”
Generation Content is in collaboration with South West Development Commission, Screenwest, Turner International and Regional Development Australia.
