A Professional Attachment opportunity is available through the Screenwest Crew Attachment Program on an upcoming feature film. Applications close Wednesday, 12 December 2018 at 5:00pm WST.
About the Attachment
The successful candidate will complete a six-week Costume Department Attachment under the guidance of an expert Costume Supervisor where they will:
- Gain insight and an understanding to the inner workings of a costume department on a feature film.
- Develop the beginnings of a costume departmental skill set across areas including assisting standby on set, on set etiquette, buying, dressing, costume department management, production office, pre-production, shooting and post production.
- Develop unique skills and knowledge of a costume department working by other experienced costume professionals.
- Learn the importance of team work both within a costume department and production company as a whole.
- Experience working alongside actors, extras and other departments on set
- An understanding on the core roles of a costume department and how they work
- Gain an understanding of the role of a costume supervisor and how they facilitate the department and production, including organisational skills, basic budget knowledge, forecasting and planning.
In addition to the Screenwest Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will be a team player and:
- possess an eye for detail and an interest in the Costume Department
- be tenacious and kind
- open to learning new things
- able to engage with people
- possess Initiative and common sense
- must have a license and car
- sewing and costume maintenance skills are a bonus but not necessary
The successful recipient is anticipated to commence in the role on Monday, 7 January 2019 for six weeks with the possibility of an extension.
