About the Attachment
Role: Costume Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 26 August – Friday, 15 November 2024 (12 weeks)
Location: Perth and South West, WA
Under the expert guidance of Costume Designer Lisa Galea Gunning, and Costume Supervisors Alex Locke and Kelly Foreman, the successful candidate will:
- Learn about the set up and organisation of the costume department.
- Help to source and assemble outfits to bring characters to life via working with the costume buyers.
- Manage time and understand the complexities of continuity via on-set experience.
- Alter clothing to fit an actor’s character.
- Apply aging processes to costumes.
Where travel outside the metro area is required, the production will provide the relevant accommodation, per diems and travel costs to the Attachment as per the award.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for these roles, the attachments may be offered in another department.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- Previous completion of a costume course in WA to provide a foundation for future learning and introduction to the actual process.
- Basic pattern-cutting and sewing skills.
- Current Driver’s Licence and preferably own form of transport as applicant may need to travel independently to various workplace locations around Perth and beyond.
- Own laptop.
