About the Attachment
Role: Costume Assistant Attachment
Dates: Monday, 9 October – Friday, 17 November 2023 (six weeks)
Location: Perth & Wheatbelt region
The successful candidate will complete six consecutive weeks as a paid Costume Assistant Attachment under the expert guidance of the Costume Designer and Costume Supervisor, where they will:
- Gain an understanding of the costume department and the requirements on an Australian feature film.
- Gain hands-on experience in costume making, art finishing and preparing fittings.
- Observe and gain an understanding of the costing process.
- Develop an understanding of how the costume department interacts with other departments and how departments collaborate to bring together a film.
Some travel to regional WA may be required. The production will provide accommodation, per diems and travel costs if travel is required.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- A demonstrated and genuine interest in a career in the costume department.
- A basic understanding of costume design.
- A basic understanding of film and television production setups.
- A basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Email.
- Good attention to detail.
