Antenna Rough Cut Lab
Antenna Rough Cut Lab is a one-day intensive workshop that will be held on Thursday, 11 October at Shark Island Institute in Sydney.
The workshop is designed to assist Australian filmmakers complete their factual feature films to the best of their creative potential and help the filmmakers find new pathways to reach global audiences.
Three creative teams will be selected to participate.
The creative teams behind the selected projects will receive coaching and privileged access to local and international decision makers, who will provide advice on:
- storytelling
- editing
- marketing
- sales representation, and
- festival strategies.
The selected projects will be announced closer to the event.
Mentors
The mentors for the 2018 Rough Cut Labs include:
- Gini Reticker – Award-winning US producer (THE SQUARE, SUN COME UP and THE INVISIBLE WAR)
- Rochelle Oshlack– Editor (GAYBY BABY, MABO, MISS NIKKI and TIGER GIRLS)
- Heino Deckert – Producer and distributor, and
- Mads Mikkelsen – Senior Programmer of Copenhagen International Documentary Festival (CPH:DOX).
How to Apply
Eligibility
Applications are open to Australian films only.
In order to be eligible, projects must be:
- A feature length documentary (60 minutes or longer)
- Currently in the rough-cut stage, and
- Accessible on a USB 3 or firewire hard drive.
Application Materials
Your application must include:
- 100-word synopsis
- 1-page director’s vision/treatment
- 1-page editor’s vision/treatment
- Bios of director and editor (150 words max)
- 1-page post production schedule and predicted timeline for completion
- Link /password to an online screener of film’s rough cut
- 1-page (max) bullet point document outlining the challenges experienced with the film’s current structure and / or problematic areas in the story, and if additional footage can be shot or sourced through archives
- Half-page summary of what has been achieved to date
All application materials must be emailed to mel@antennafestival.org by Monday, 10 September 2018.
