A Professional Attachment opportunity is available through the Screenwest Crew Attachment Program for a Practitioner from an underrepresented group, on upcoming Television Series What Does Australia Really Think. Applications close Monday, 24 August 2020 at 5:00pm AWST.
About the Attachment
The successful candidate will complete a five-week Researcher Attachment under the expert guidance of Christian Horgan where they will:
- work closely with Producers during pre-production of a 3-part series for SBS.
- work alongside an experienced mentor to provide Internet research and gather relevant information.
- gain experience in speaking with potential contributors.
- assist mentor in planning and writing shoots.
- work with Production Manager and Production Coordinator with relation to the shoots.
- Gaining knowledge in the processes involved in researching and producing a factual series.
- gain valuable experience planning and writing shoots
- Gain an understanding of the steps involved in coordinating shoots
- Gaining industry contacts.

If the right candidate cannot be found for this role, the attachment may be offered in another department.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to the requirements in the Screenwest Crew Attachment Guidelines and Terms of Trade, the successful applicant will possess:
- A keen interest in factual programming.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational skills.
The successful applicant will identify as a diverse or underrepresented practitioner.
Attachment Conditions
It is expected the successful Attachment will:
- Comply with the Producer’s workplace rules and requirements for safety and behaviour.
- Comply with all lawful and reasonable directions given to the Attachment by officers or employees of the Producer during the Term of the Attachment.
- Keep confidential any and all confidential information of the Producer that comes into the Attachment’s possession.
