Screenwest has opened a competitive travel round to support WA games studios and developers attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, taking place at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, California from 17-21 March.
GDC is the world’s premier event for game developers. This year they’re celebrating game history and exploring game preservation, as well as delivering the industry’s greatest source of content and connections. At GDC Expo, attendees can check out companies’ latest products and solutions, head to GDC Play to try the latest indie games or attend career development talks around building portfolios.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
A set amount of $5,000 to assist with flights, accommodation and registration will be provided and as such, a budget is not required as part of the application. Only a limited number of practitioners will be supported.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Western Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
- Be a Western Australian based digital games studio, independent developer or industry practitioner.
- Hold the underlying rights to at least one project in development or released with some level of market interest.
Applications are responsible for securing their own registration to GDC.

Applications can be made through Screenwest’s SmartyGrants portal.
Applications will be assessed against the criteria as outlined within the Travel Fund Guidelines.
